A landscape sheet under the black headline 'The bloody massacre at Long-My' shows a bandaged former prisoner, Lâm Văn Được, and two photographs of bodies in earth, with text saying the Viet Cong bound and shot 41 of 50 prisoners at Ngan Ke on 15 January 1967 as the 21st Division approached. The closing banner reads 'Truly a war against the people.' The tell is the combination of a named survivor, corpse photographs and a numerical count to attribute the killings to one side.

THE BLOODY MASSACRE AT LONG-MY

On 15-1-1967 units of the 21st Division brought joyful hope to 50 people held in a Viet Cong prison camp in Ngan Kè hamlet. Hearing our troops' gunfire, the unfortunate prisoners hoped to be freed and to return to their fathers, mothers, wives and children. After nearly two years of hunger and thirst in the Communist prison camp, Mr. Lâm-Văn-Được now saw the hope of being freed and going home for Tết with his family. The other people in the camp shared Mr. Được's hope of returning to their families for Tết, beside the warm altar with incense smoke.

But tragically, when our troops approached the camp the Viet Cong tied up all the prisoners and slaughtered them with guns and grenades. They even used machetes to cut the necks of those still gasping. The result: 41 of the 50 prisoners were killed. Among those killed were a pregnant woman and an infant.

Once again, in the war that harms the people, the Viet Cong have committed another disgusting crime. Perhaps the Viet Cong will quickly forget the victims they killed, but the families of the 41 victims will never forget their loved ones. For them, the spring reunion is a day of sad spring.

Mr. Lâm-Văn-Được, a Viet Cong prisoner who luckily survived, looks in horror at the twisted corpse of a young woman slaughtered by the V.C. at the prison camp at Ngan-Kè.
