New Crops Bring New Prosperity
A landscape sheet headed 'New seed brings prosperity' reports that farmers in An Giang province more than doubled their income with seed introduced by a Taiwanese (Republic of China) agricultural team. Four photographs of named farmers carry captions giving income in piastres per plot, and one quotes a farmer comparing a harvest of 3 kilos of the new bean against 2 of the local kind. The tell is the named-farmer testimonial with a price attached to each, offered as a typical result.

NEW SEED BRINGS PROSPERITY With the help of the Taiwan Agricultural Expert Team, many farmers in An-Giang province have harvested more than double the income they were able to harvest before. This good result is thanks to new Chinese seed, sometimes varieties unfamiliar to the experience of Vietnamese farmers, such as transplanted rice, soybeans, purple long beans and watermelon. These new varieties not only produce a larger quantity than a mau of the broadcast rice used before, but are also of better quality, able to bring richer income, and at the same time some of the varieties can be grown in several seasons each year.
