Rural Construction Program in Kien Tuong
A horizontal photo-sheet (code SP-1035) reports that medical aid from local authorities and 'friendly countries' has equipped Kien Tuong province with instruments, medicines and new wards. Four photographs show a ward, an X-ray examination, an operation and a patient's name and age, beside a large red cross. Only finished facilities and treated patients appear, and the red cross borrows the symbol's neutral authority for a government programme.

RURAL CONSTRUCTION PROGRAM OF KIEN-TUONG PROVINCE To carry out a rural reconstruction programme alongside the pacification of the country, a medical relief plan no less important is also a pacification programme to preserve the health of the compatriots. The local authorities, with the help of friendly countries, have helped Kien-Tuong province to be equipped with medical instruments and medicines and to build more wards to help the compatriots in the province, especially in remote and isolated places. Now the Kien-Tuong Health Service has full surgical and X-ray equipment to X-ray broken limbs and take chest pictures, helping the compatriots so that they no longer have to travel far as before. The semi-cylindrical (Nissen-type) building has been completed and is used as the Surgical Ward, holding over 20 beds for patients. A specialist of the surgical department takes chest X-rays of compatriots with X-ray equipment. A medical specialist of the surgical department operates to remove grenade fragments from the back of Mr. Bui-Ngoc-Chau, aged 61, of Hung Nhuong village. SP-1035
