VICTORY OF OPERATION "XAY DUNG 33" AT TAU-O AND LOC-NINH (BINH-LONG) Operation "Xay Dung 33", held on 8-6-1966 with the cooperation of Vietnamese and American forces at Tau-O and Loc-Ninh (Binh-Long), put two elite Viet Cong battalions out of action with the following brilliant results: Casualties: Over 200 Viet Cong left their bodies on the battlefield. A large number of others, dead and wounded, were carried away by their comrades. Weapons we seized: 2 75 mm recoilless guns. 1 57 mm recoilless gun. 50 other weapons of all kinds. A large quantity of uniforms, equipment, grenades, explosives, documents and medical supplies. The domestic and foreign press, as well as the news agencies, have commented that the victory of Operation "Xay Dung 33" was the opening victory of the "Rainy Season" campaign in Tactical Zone 3. The Major General commanding Corps 3 pins medals on meritorious fighters. A series of heavy weapons has fallen into the hands of the courageous Vietnamese and American fighters at Tan Khai. The victory of "Xay Dung 33" has brought out the courageous fighting spirit of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam. SP-1246
