Kien Giang Builds a Better Rural Life

Photographs show a ribbon-cutting by an official, a speaker before a crowd and the province chief digging the channel open. Precise measurements and named ceremonies carry the case, and the footer slogan 'Determination to pacify and build the countryside' states the aim.

KIÊN-GIANG CẢI TIẾN NÔNG THÔN Lễ khánh thành kinh 2 kinh 3 Cái Sắn, Xã Tân Hiệp, Quận Kiên Tân (Kiên Giang) 12-3-66. — Công tác khởi sự từ ngày 1-12-1965 và hoàn thành ngày 28-2-66. — Tổng số thước khối đất vét 129.266 m3. — Kinh 2 dài 10.640 thước. Kinh 3 dài 10.300 thước. — Tổng số kinh phí lên tới 4.908.223$.36. — Giúp thoát thủy rửa phèn cho lối 4.000 mẫu ruộng khiến cho 6.000 đồng bào trong kinh có điều kiện tăng gia năng xuất và cải tiến Xã Hội. Trung Tá Tỉnh Trưởng đào đất khởi giòng nước ngọt chảy vào kinh trước sự vui tươi phấn khởi của đồng bào nông thôn. Đại Diện dân chúng địa phương đang bày tỏ cảm tưởng. KIEN-GIANG IMPROVES THE COUNTRYSIDE Inauguration ceremony of canals 2 and 3 Cai San, Tan Hiep village, Kien Tan district (Kien Giang) 12-3-66. — Work began on 1-12-1965 and was completed on 28-2-66. — Total earth dredged 129,266 cubic metres. — Canal 2 is 10,640 metres long. Canal 3 is 10,300 metres long. — Total cost comes to 4,908,223$.36. — It helps drain water and wash out alum from some 4,000 hectares of rice land, giving 6,000 compatriots in the canal area the conditions to raise output and improve society. The Lieutenant Colonel Province Chief digs the earth to let fresh water flow into the canal before the joyful, excited rural compatriots. A representative of the local people expresses his feelings.
