(Serbia Has Won!)

Front page of the Belgrade daily Politika, six weeks into the war, under a full-width banner headline 'SERBIA HAS WON!' followed by dispatches headed 'Reports of the Supreme Command'. Tells: the page gives only Serbian successes (enemy 'beaten and thrown back', captured stores counted by the kilo, enemy morale 'completely demoralised') and vouches for them with the army's own bulletins; one item charges Austro-Hungarian troops with placing Serb women and children in front of their firing line.

[text cut off at the foot of the image]

POLITIKA

SERBIA HAS WON!
— The Austrians have been beaten and driven back at Krupanj. — Our [illegible] offensive in Bosnia. — Fifteen kilometres from Sarajevo. —
(REPORTS OF THE SUPREME COMMAND).

On the Ljubovija-Zvornik-Loznica front our troops, having broken the enemy's attack, have undertaken a general offensive. Before the powerful onrush of our troops the enemy is retreating along the whole front, and especially the successes of our left and right wing forced the enemy into a hasty retreat.
The success of our army, which continues to develop energetically, is all the more significant because the enemy had engaged enormous strength on this front.
On the Loznica-Rača front the enemy tried again to cross the Drina, but all his attempts were thwarted.
Likewise his attempt to cross the Sava on the Mitrovica-Šabac front was stopped.
On the front towards the Sava and towards the Danube there was nothing more important.

Our offensive. Valjevo, 5 September.
Our troops from Višegrad, after the capture of Semec, have continued their advance and are approaching Rogatica.
Our troops from Bajina Bašta onward are steadily pushing into the interior of Bosnia.
Our troops advancing from Bajina Bašta have established that on 3 September near the village of Somače the Austrians placed women and children of the Serb population in front of their firing line, loaded with their knapsacks.

Attaché Plunkett wounded. Valjevo, 5 September.
The energetic military attaché, Lieutenant-Colonel Plunkett, was lightly wounded yesterday in the calf of the left leg while observing the battle on the front near Loznica.

Huge booty at Višegrad. Valjevo, 5 September.
In their sudden withdrawal from Višegrad the enemy left all his stores untouched.
Our troops captured 30,000 kilograms of flour, 30,000 tins of preserves, 30,000 kilograms of salt, 2,000 blankets, a quantity of old clothing, 500 beds, one hospital for 100 wounded with a dispensary.
In addition 40 wagons that the enemy left at the station were seized.

Montenegrins before Sarajevo. Cetinje, 5 September.
After the Montenegrin army occupied Foča and the fortified place Goražde, in its victorious advance it took on the 3rd of this month the fortified place Jabuka, north of Goražde, and on the 4th of this month the town of Rogatica.
The morale of our troops is excellent. The Austrian army is completely demoralised and, seized by panic, flees before our brave troops. The Montenegrin army is now 15 kilometres from Sarajevo. [text cut off at the foot of the image]

Read from the 1280 px scan. One word of the sub-headline between 'Наша' and 'офанзива' is smudged and is marked [illegible]. Some letters in the lower paragraphs are smudged and are given as read, including the printed 'зауззпа' (probably 'заузела'). The passage is cut off at the foot of the scan; text below the page fold is not in the image.
