RURAL CONSTRUCTION CADRES SERVING THE PEOPLE FATHERLAND, PEOPLE In the past six months (1966) the Vinh Long provincial rural construction cadre team has built 10 hamlets gathering 6,634 people and strengthened 7 hamlets, bringing prosperity to 3,807 families. Founded on 14-2-1966, the provincial rural construction team has gathered 472 cadres now working in the weak [insecure] villages and hamlets of the province. Hundreds of other young people are eagerly waiting for the day they join the rural construction cadre. The growth of the rural construction programme is clear proof of all the government's concern for the people of the countryside. A cadre meets an elder to learn the people's wishes and to publicise the construction programme that brings practical benefits to the home hamlet. Medical cadres go to each family to look after health. Common medicines are issued to the people. Rural construction cadres not only bring confidence to older people but also give children the wish to learn so as to become useful people later. Repairing roads and building bridges so that travel within the hamlet is easy. SP-1661
