Chiến thắng Long Phi 971 của Sư Đoàn 9 Bộ Binh (Victory of Operation Long Phi 971 of the 9th Infantry Division)
A Vietnamese-language sheet (code SP-1189) reports Operation Long Phi 971 in Kien Giang province, 21 to 22 May 1966: a count of enemy dead, wounded and prisoners, a list of 55 captured weapons, and photographs of the dead, seated prisoners and laid-out arms. Captions describe the dead as having laid down their arms for good before the people's will to defend freedom. The technique's tell is a one-sided tally with displayed bodies and trophies standing for the whole engagement.

CHIẾN THẮNG LONG PHI 971 CỦA SƯ ĐOÀN 9 BỘ BINH Cuộc hành quân Long-Phi 971 khai diễn hồi 12 giờ ngày 21-5-1966 và chấm dứt vào buổi trưa ngày hôm sau đã đánh tan Tiểu Đoàn Tây-Đô Việt-Cộng 5 cây số Tây Bắc Quận Kiên-Tân, Tỉnh Kiên-Giang, khi có tin Tiểu Đoàn này dự định tấn công khu dinh điền Cái-Sắn thuộc Quận Kiên-Tân. KẾT QUẢ : - 224 Việt-Cộng bỏ xác tại chỗ - Trên 200 tên chết và bị thương được đồng bọn đem đi. - 10 tên bị bắt sống. TA TỊCH THU 55 SÚNG GỒM : - 2 súng cối 60 ly - 1 Đại Bác 57 ly - 2 Đại liên phòng không - 6 Trung liên - 5 Tiểu liên Tiếp-Khắc - 8 Garant M1 - 19 Carbine - 11 súng Trường Nga - 1 súng phóng lựu M79 - 1 Colt - 2 chân súng cối 60 ly - 1 bàn tiếp hậu súng cối 60 ly - một số quân trang, quân dụng, đạn dược và tài liệu quan trọng. Các tên cán binh Việt-Cộng bị bắt trong cuộc Hành Quân cùng những thây ma các đồng đội của chúng. Các phần tử cuồng tín này đã phải buông súng vĩnh viễn trước ý-chí chiến đấu bảo vệ tự do của Quân Dân ta. Thành quả thâu lượm được trong cuộc Hành Quân đã nói lên tinh thần chiến đấu bền bỉ và dũng cảm của các chiến sĩ Quân Đội Việt-Nam Cộng-Hoà. SP-1189
VICTORY OF OPERATION LONG PHI 971 OF THE 9TH INFANTRY DIVISION Operation Long-Phi 971 began at 12:00 on 21-5-1966 and ended at noon the next day, having routed the Viet Cong Tay-Do Battalion 5 kilometres north-west of Kien-Tan District, Kien-Giang Province, when word came that this battalion planned to attack the Cai-San resettlement area in Kien-Tan District. RESULT: - 224 Viet Cong left their bodies on the spot - over 200 dead and wounded carried away by their comrades. - 10 captured alive. WE SEIZED 55 WEAPONS INCLUDING: - 2 60mm mortars - 1 57mm gun - 2 anti-aircraft heavy machine guns - 6 light machine guns - 5 Thompson submachine guns - 8 Garand M1 - 19 carbines - 11 Russian rifles - 1 M79 grenade launcher - 1 Colt - 2 60mm mortar bipods - 1 60mm mortar base plate - a number of uniforms, equipment, ammunition and important documents. The Viet Cong fighters captured in the operation, with the corpses of their comrades. These fanatics had to lay down their weapons for ever before the will of our Army and people to fight to defend freedom. The results gathered in the operation speak of the steadfast and brave fighting spirit of the soldiers of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam. SP-1189
